Argideen History
Argideen Vale Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, Ummera, Timoleague, Co. Cork, Ireland.
Argideen Vale is one of the longest established Tennis & Croquet Clubs in Ireland. We are not certain of the exact date it was formed however the first recorded Open Tennis Tournament was held in 1895. The Club was then situated in the grounds of Timoleague House. Around the year 1905 The Tennis & Croquet Club moved to the townland of Ummera, close to Timoleague, where it is situated to this day.
The Courts are All Grass. Argideen Vale is the only ALL GRASS court Club in Ireland , and probably the only one in the world !
We are only open during the summer months from May to the end of September.
Argideen Vale is a private club and only members & their guests are permitted to use the facilities. Membership is presently closed , however if you wish to join the waiting list please download the Membership Form from this site and send it to the Hon. Secretary.
We, at Argideen Vale pride ourselves in the old fashioned traditions of Lawn Tennis & Croquet. Players must wear white tennis clothes while on court with the exception of track suits on cooler days.On a Club Day the Tea bells rings at 4.30pm and members take their turn to be the Tea Host for the day. Homemade Cakes and scones are a speciality.
